STRING QUARTET +/-
CONSTELLATION CHICAGO, 8:30PM SUNDAY NOVEMBER 24
MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM, 2PM
The Zafa Collective was founded upon the idea of having a highly flexible instrumentation that would allow the group to program without restrictions. While the group regularly performs in unusual combinations of strings, winds, and percussion, lately its members have also gravitated towards a traditional string quartet setup. This month, Zafa will debut a program that combines its commitment to versatile instrumentation with an exploration of the standard string quartet’s capabilities. String Quartet +/-, which features works by Leila Adu-Gilmore, Eliza Brown, Alice Ping Yee Ho, Gemma Peacocke, and Kaija Saariaho, will appear first at Constellation on November 24, and again at the Milwaukee Art Museum on December 10. Tickets for Constellation may be purchased here; the MAM performance is free.
